Yesterday evening, after feeling good all day I had to have a bm which came out kind of normal and towards the end loose ( but not watery).I felt very nauseas during and afterwards and I was scared that I have to throw up. I didn't throw up and felt not as nauseas anymore after about an hour or so. I did have some abdominal discomfort during the night ( the feeling that there is an airbubble in my tummy which can't get released). Today I had a normal looking bm and I feel now again a little nauseas but not to the point to throw up.It's definetly connected to the bm. Is this normal and anybody feel like this ? Does it sound typical for IBS ?

I have had it happen to me too from time to time. I'm not concerned about it though.

HiThe nausea can be caused by the vagus nerve during a bowel movement. i used to suffer from it all teh time. the vagus nerve can also make you feel pasty and sweaty as well. cheersIan

Ian, please can you explain a bit more about vagal nerve stimulation. I get really nervous when about to go-heart thumping, nervous even at home. Thought it was anxiety related habit but now wondering if there is a physical reason for this.

I get really bad nausea very often. i eat like a horse but some weeks i can eat next to nothing (for me) and keep it down and usually worst after a period of really bad D. I have found something that helps though, only for taking a few times a day when you get the sick feeling but im starting to think it helps my IBS tooits called motilium, it can make IBS worse as it speeds up your digestion so that food stays in your stomach for a shorter time, its worth a try, I have had other anti-nausea meds in my life and none of them have done a damn thing but this one seems to help out (I do however take a few other meds so not sure how much is down to the motilium)
