This Monday I have an appointment with my gastroenterologist (sp). Lately, I have the sinking suspicion that he just diagnosed me with IBS because he couldn't think of anything else. The reason I feel this way is because IBS is broken into two categories as we all know - C and D. I experience neither of these on a daily basis, or even weekly. When I first started going to my gastro, I complained of not being able to go to the bathroom for days so if I were one I would be C. That was like a year ago, and going to the bathroom is almost an every day thing for me now. The things I do experience are heavy bloating and frequent leaky gas. When I try to explain this to him, he goes on with his doctor jargon and totally dismisses my problem. I'm only 20 so I feel like he is treating me like a child and not taking me seriously. I just want him to REALLY hear me out this time.

Maybe you need a different Doc. Maybe you also need to take hold of this yourself. Your symptoms are much like the problems I had for many years, then I suffered from weekly D, now I am back to the old gassy/bloaty problem. I highly recommend a food diary. It has helped a lot with that aspect. I think the one thing many of us have learned is that docs don't know much about this disorder and we can only really rely on ourselves and eachother. Best wishes.
