I have been suffering from IBS for years. I was just diagnosed a year ago and was put on Levson (didn't work). Toady I went and got a colonic. OHMIGOSH!!! I can tell it is going to help me. I have Candidas bad--- the therapist said. I had no idea all you guys are out there!!! I though I was so alone and then I stumble upon this group. I am interested to hear if anyone one else has tried getting a colonic. Kris

Kris,I used to have colonics fairly often about 12 years ago, and they did indeed help me. My IBS wasn't nearly as bad back then, though, so I didn't suffer as much as now. They sure do make you feel lighter, but that feeling when all that water goes in is unlike any other. And when it comes out...ack...I'm too queasy these days to deal with that...LOL.I worked at a holistic health center and had them done there so I knew the conditions under which it was being done, but people need to be really careful about who they have this done by.I'm glad it helped you. Keep us posted on your progress.Good thoughts to you...

Kristi,Could you tell me what prompted you to get a colonic? Are you a "C" or "D" type?------------------"Remember To Stop and Smell the Roses"Rose

According to you guys, I am a D type. I didn't get a colonic because of my IBS. My mom had been getting them and said that she knew it would help me feel better. The colonic hydrotherapist agreed with her so I went in. Then that night I was researching colonics (yes, after the fact) and came across a comment on a site that colonics were good treatment for IBS, stumbled across you guys, and here I am! Oh and someone asked what a colonic is...its a cleansing of the colon using irrigation. They insert a tube that is hooked up to a machine that pumps water. Low pressure is recommended as is NOT using the colonic treatment that has a second tube that sucks everything out. Use the gravity method, I guess it is safer. Thanks for the replies -- it's encouraging to me! Kris

Kristy,I know this is going to sound gross, but I am wondering..once the water is pumped in, I imagine you can't really hold in there. Do they do it over a toilet or something similar? Just wondering.------------------"Remember To Stop and Smell the Roses"Rose

Rose, you are laying down and there is a sort of tub/drain under your buttocks. It's not as messy as it seems. In fact its not messy at all. I got a second one done the other day. I cleaned out pretty good they said. I hope it helps. I am just glad to be getting my colon cleaned out!!!
