Hello all,I have been recently diagnosed with IBS and I really do not know how to classify myself as "D" because I do not have "D", but go alot!!! It all started that day before thanksgiving when I got a sharp pain in my lower right abdomen and thought "Oh my God, that's where my appendix is" well after I laid on my right side the pain went away and then I did get the "D" and nausea. Well, it went away after a day or so, then I thought maybe I had the flu. I went to the Dr and had a Ultrasound done and found out that I had a Ovarian cyst. Well okay, we can deal with that and move on. But since, I have had Irregular bowel movements, but no "D" they have been solid, rarely soft. I would then feel a "full" sensation on the lower right side along with funny sensations like something is draining or tingling..I could not describe it to my Dr. So she said that I was having spasms. But not like the spasms that you all have with pain. I have had no pain. Just go to the bathroom more than normal. Last Thur I went 6 times, and it was not "D". So now I am on Bentyl which did help at first, I have been on it for 3 weeks now, take it 2 times daily. But lately, I have good days and bad days which I am getting really frustrated, because I am careful about what I eat. Is there a good diet plan out there for IBS? I also read on this BB that Caltrate seems to help alot of you with this IBS. My Dr. also wants me to take Fibercon, but I am already going so much that I am afraid that it will make me go more. Can anyone shed some more light for this newcomer? Thanks

I don't have a real answer for you...more fiber did make it worse for me but experiences are VERY individual on this board, soBUMP!And hopefully someone will be able to help you out more.------------------RhetanaIBS D

Try keeping track of everything you eat and how it affects your BM. Here's a trick my Mom taught me: eat a lot of beets and then keep a careful record of everything you eat until you see the red color of the beets at the other end. Immediately eat a lot more beets and keep a careful record of the quality of your BM's and you'll discover your input/output ratio as well as your processing speed when the second bunch of beets reappear. This journal may help your doctor make a plan with you.-Ru8th
