I'm newbie too, I was diagnosed about 3 months ago after suffering 3 months of hell, and get quite down from feeling sick all the time. I have been seeking help from a homeopath for the past few months and was wondering if anyone else had tried one (and if any good results?). I find it hard to believe anything will help me.... But am trying to keep a brave face! I think my major problem is emotional stress from living in England for the past 2 years while my real home is Australia... Any comments would be much appreciated!

Hi welcome to the board!I've not tried a homeopath (is that different from a naturopath - I knw what they do). My best luck has been from things I've learned on this board. You don't say what your IBS symptoms are - there are lots of different flavors so what works for one person might not work for another. So best advice I have is to read up, ask lots of questions, and talk to your doctor about anything you're unsure of.take carenancy

A homeopath takes in your whole history/personality/lifestyle and prescribes remedies in the form of small sugar pills which contain minute traces of herbs etc. I try really hard to be positive about it, but it is just so hard. My main symptoms are lots of low tummy pains and gas.... some times i am doubled over in pain from the movement of gas in my side. I have tried peppermint capsules (made me v.sick) and am now taking fibre supplement and acidophilus once a day, plus anti spasmodics when pain really bad. I am not sure if I need to give my body some time, or try new things?

Hi: so sorry you are suffering so.Assume you have seen a specialist, GI doctor,and had some tests.Meanwhile, it might be a good idea to take a Digestive Enzyme before each meal, as I do.At one time, I took one after each meal too.I find it really helps me. There are lotsaround, not sure what there is in the UK, butthere must be some, and you may have to experimentwith different ones. Also, there was a man on this board, Tricky,living in the UK who seemed v. happy with hisnutritionist, who was giving him Primal Defense,HSO's, not drugs but may work faster thanhomeopathy.
