Hi there! I'm Shell from West Seattle.... I have been living with IBS for about 15 years.... not even knowing that is what is was.... trip after trip to the ER with so much pain over the years...... just to be told I was constipated or had an obstruction...... and just go buy something over the counter to help the pain..... so after hours of sitting in the ER and then having ER Doctors look at me like I'm a big baby over just an upset tummy.....

Finally 3 years ago I had some additonal testing to rule out other things..... now the DR just tells me it is IBS and I just have to learn to live with it.This has got to be one of the most frustrating

things.... good thing my boss in so understanding..... since I miss so much work..... I'm thinking to starting The IBS Self-Help Program by David Waltson

not really sure how I feel about it yet..... but hopefully it will give some relief.Well, that is enough for now..... please let me know of any meetings in Seattle....

hi shell - welcome to the board.I'm not familiar with the program you mentioned. If you're not sure about it, you might want to start a thread asking if others have tried it or doa search in the archives. Chances are that you will run across someone on this board who has tried it.also, be sure to look into the constipation board since this seems to be your main symptom. You may find a lot of help there - things you might not have learned about from docs. For instance, something as relatively simple as magnesium supplements have helped a lot of people with IBS-Cgood lucknancy

Hi Shell, just wanted to welcome you to the board. Have you heard of Zelnorm? It's a relatively new drug used to treat constipation. Might want to look into it and ask your doctor.
