hi, i have been to three gi docs in new york over the past 2 years, but have not had as good of an experience as i would like with any of them. i specifically had a very poor experience with the mind-body digestive center featured in the new york times a year or so ago (http://www.mindbodydigestive.com/). i would recommend you do not go there. dr gerson kept pushing treatments that were not applicable to my situation and he was not aware of new research and treatments available for ibs-d, like lotronex. the other gi docs have been relatively helpful but IBS is not their specialty and it seems they have no confidence in their ability to provide good treatment.so i was wondering if anyone has had a good experience with a specific doctor in nyc. i would think some of the best ibs specialists would reside in the city, but i cannot find anything on the internet. i would really like someone who truly knows their stuff and is willing to listen/work with patients and truly cares about patient outcomes.

You never know where the universities with good researchers are, they are all across the country so you don't always get the best experts in NY or LA.http://www.ibshypnosis.com/IBSclinicians.html lists one MD who came to UNC's functional GI clinic. That doesn't mean they are the most up to date, and may not focus on anything other than the mind-body aspect, but it might be worth a shot. At least they've had contact with a clinic with a top expert, or cares about patients, but it is a lead that may pan out.

I want to go see Dr. Shawn Khodadadian too. I called the clinic today. Not sure he will be helpful. Most GI doctors are not very helpful to me. I always have to do my own research.
