I was just diagnosed with Ibs-d. I am at loss for information and what to do. I was told a high fibre diet and given bentyl. I couldn't work while taking this medicine. Now I am taking reglan. Nothing seems to help. I am frustrated and feel as if this is just a "I don't know what else it is ,so we will call it ibs." Help------------------

Hi Debiniowa,I have IBS-D. It's a pain isn't it?I'm very new at this bullitin board but there is loads of info you can get just by reading the other posts. My experience with IBS-D has gone on for over 10 years. I have been on so many meds I can't even remember all of them. I do remember that before Lotronex, I was taking Questran every night and although it is no Lotronex, it did help.IBS is something you have to experiment with and learn what works best for you as everyone is different. I have trouble with a high fiber diet. It seems to make my D worse but that doesn't mean it will yours.Hang in there
As soon as you can, spend a lot of time, as in a few hours, reading this BB. Search for posts on Caltrate, food and symptom journals, fiber, and so on. I've been coming to this board for quite some time, and it is a wealth of information! I hope you find something that works for you...

I would say try the calcium supplement it has been the only thing that ever helped me and I suffered for 23 years. Email me and I will give you the info or just find it on the board.Linda
