Wow.I got it from a friend at www.rofay.com about 3 weeks ago before it was posted.UNBELIVEABLE.I had three freinds try and same results.Gas for a few days and then nothing. I mean nothing. no diarrhea. no constip. I am a betting women. In six months everyong will be using this stuff.
To both of you who have posted,What were your symptoms?
Am I the only one that is suspicious? Two 'personas' registered in the past two days. Each posts 3 or 4 times, always urging us to try a great product. One persona posted only yesterday, the other posted only today. Maybe I am a little paranoid, but I have seen this before on other boards - people pretending to have a condition, reporting great results from Acme Product X, available at www. sendyourmoney. com.I checked out the product - seems to be a probiotic with enzymes (not clear if the enzymes are isolated, or produced by the probiotic organisms). Not much detail as to the type of organism, no potency in terms of colony forming units, a focus on generalities and benefits, not ingredients. I am all for probiotics, but want to know what I'm taking, and don't believe they are miracle cures.
Why do I have the feeling these are spams. New posters and the same day this is posted I got a spam email. This seems to be another probiotic.
FloridianYou are right to be suspicious. We have all heard it all before.I have been on this site for months but never registered/posted becuase I had nothing to add. I don't have any symptoms/experiences/pain/loss that is different than anyone else's--so why post. When I saw posting by suejoan, i jumped in because i had something to add that I thought might help someone. and that is I agree with her. Thats it. nothing more. If your pleased with your condidition, don't try the product, if you want to take a chance, take a chance. All the best, for a happy healthy day.
i am skeptical also. it seems that ARL works for the company based on his email address.even though i am skeptical i have an open mind on everything. there is a possibility that this probiotic could be some genetically engineered super strain that has amazing powers.you never know on these things.but if it is just an ordinary probiotic that is not much different than all the others i have tried ---and i have tried almost all of them (never tried Culturelle--lactobacillus GG) --- then shame.the problem with IBS is that we are all different and who is to say that everyone will respond to the same treatment.of course this is a bad argument --- because if product X helps 15% of the people then it has value.
Well, I just ordered the new stuff at Rofay...and I hope that I have not just been suckered into a rip off. I figured I might as well try something since nothing else seems to help. It was only 13.00 so hopefully it won't be too good to be true. Anyone else tried this yet? I am willing to try about anything these just to get some kind of results. Any relief would be grateful on my end. Love to all...God bless us...and stay strong. Kat

I have been on digestive advantage ibs since last thur.So far I can not see any change.Bad d in the morning,I call it my morning bomb run.I am going to stick with it for awhile and see if its helps, but so far no change for me.SEE YA
Hello ARL,When you work for a company that manufactures a product, we consider it good manners to tell us that fact rather than make up some story. If you want to tell us more about the product, there is a forum just for that. Take care.
i took a look at the ingredients of this product. 400 million bacteria (this is a very low number -- it better be super-bacteria -- but i doubt it). 3 chemical ingredients that have very long names... food dye...i think that since many of us have tried milk elimination with only very mild overall symptom reduction -- it is safe to say that digestive advantage may have little to offer. but stranger things have happened.i took a probiotic that had 1000x's as many bacteria for 6 months (VSL#3 -- 450 BILLION bacteria), and the relief was barely noticable. i'd like to hear from dr fisgus (sp?) again.what is so incredibly special about these 400 million bacteria.
So you guys who are totally advocating this miracle drug . . .How long have you had IBS? What type do you have? What other methods have you tried?ARL . . .what exactly do you do at this biotech company you work for?
theres no cure for it. if there was, surely we would have all known about it by now!
In response to Kel,400 million cfu's of bacteria taken everyday is an enormus number.Lactobacillus species that are usually sold in health food stores are usually garbage. Most probotics, in general, quote the number of viable cells at the time of manufacture. Then the bacteria in formulated into capsules or tablets and then they sit on the shelf for some time prior to purchase and use by the consumer. Durring this time period, the cell count is dropping at an un-believeable rate. By the time that you ingest this product, the cell count is 5-10%(AND I AM BEING CONSERVATIVE) of the count at the time of manufacture. Then add the fact that the vast majority of Lactobacillus are not efficient colonizers and have trouble, competitively, with the 100's of millions/gram of normal intestinal bacteria.Add this all together and you get your average probiotic product. Worthless!Digestive Advantage IBS is based on a strain of lactic acid bacteria that is stabilized after manufacture to ensure that the the count at the time of use is the same as that at the time of manufacture. Also, Ganeden Biotech has isolated this strain specifically to address the dietary triggers of IBS. The probiotic fomulas that one commonly encountered are "kitchen Sink" products. Meaning their manufacturers claim that they cure anything and everything. Digestive Advantage IBS cures nothing! It manages the symptoms of IBS.Ganeden Biotech has other products in the works based on new strains of bacteria that were isolated for a single ailment.Ganeden Biotech is not a snake oil, health food company. It's core research has been recognized and funded by the United States Congress (PRMRP) and the United States Department of Defense. It has a research office at a major university in DC and its chief scientific advisor is Dr. Ken Alibek M.D.,Ph.D, D.Sc. (one of the world's formost physicians/microbiologists). So, before you start evaluating the scientific merit of Digestive Advantage or Ganeden Biotech, you should realize that there is more here than meets the eye. Kindest Regards.SF

It actually makes me angry that people have come on here PRETENDING to have IBS just to promote their product and the benefits it supposedly has on them. Ive read other posts on this product and was feeling happy and very hopeful b/c it had worked for many people. Then to find out that most of these were 'spam' posts really annoys me and is enough for me to not want to try this product at all.

It is actually quite low when compared to all the other products. If a human has 100 trillion bacteria in the gut then 400 million bacteria in your product means that for every bacteria in your product there are 250,000 (a quarter of a million!!!) bacteria in your gut. It is worse if not all of your bacteria survive.

This is not true. I have been able to culture store bought probiotics the overwhelming majority of the time. The exception is when the expiration date approaches. I remember trying to culture brevis one time. Could not do it. Not surprised - the bacteria was hardened in the capsule.

Your probiotic sits in a drug store encased in some blue artificial dye. Why the dye?

This may be true. I have no way of knowing. Since you are a microbiologist I imagine that you can back this up? I am curious as to what is the easiest way to do this. -remove bacteria one by one and place it in an agar plate?
quote: Then add the fact that the vast majority of Lactobacillus are not efficient colonizers and have trouble, competitively, with the 100's of millions/gram of normal intestinal bacteria.
True. But I suspect that yours may not be an effective colonizer either. Otherwise we would be able to stop taking it after a couple of months.

Not true. Many people have been able to stop diarrhea from store bought probiotics. It helped me a few years ago when I had D. -homemade yogurt helped me more though. do you have proof that they are worthless?
quote: The probiotic fomulas that one commonly encountered are "kitchen Sink" products. Meaning their manufacturers claim that they cure anything and everything.
Not true at all. i don't see them claiming any such thing. i believe the FDA prevents this.

Very interesting

May be true that is why I stated that this could be some special/super strain. It would have to be if it is to help me. Seems that the majority of my problem is in the colon where acidophilus is an incredibly small role player. However, that does not mean all that much.*****************************************************************************that being said, i am skeptical but not downright negative like flux -- the resident pessimist.it is very possible that you have found a bacteria that has special powers. the fact that you are offering free samples is interesting. either you are extremely confidant or you have a good marketing dept that figured out an angle (that is assuming it is an ordinary probiotic).one thing concerns me, my acidophilus was tested to be excellent but bifidus was not present. do you have a bifidus product in the works?if it puts even a small minority of the suffering people on this forum into remission then you people need to be congradulated.

ARL -- Andrew R. Lefkowitz, are you the owner of the company? can we order it from your company?was it just IBS due to lactose intolerance? --or did you have a severe case of symptoms after eating almost everything?when is the product going to be in stores -- DA-IBS ---not the lactose product.i am a bad case. have you tested it on bad cases yet? if not -- what do you think the chances are for a dramatic turnaround?if it does not work are you working on a bifidus strain?thanks.

Sitting Pretty,do you work for Rofay or ganeden? if you work for rofay do you give a money back guarantee if a person buys 3 boxes but gets no relief from their IBS symptoms.
I think I am going to have to try this stuff out, I'm hearing so much good about itRight now I'm starving.... I'm limiting myself to what I eat and how much, and I"m starving to death!!!
