Hello all.I sem to have lost the "urge" to "go". I used to have that need and the go and all OK. Now I decide that i should sit and push and result follows.Why have i lost the urge?Regardsbadger1

I don't know why. I guess I should leave this to the experts but I didn't want you to think no one was reading your post. I remember someone saying a while back that if you ignore your body when it tells you that you need to go long enough, your body stops telling you. I read that on this bulletin board somewhere so maybe there are others with more info?Good Luck,Carly

I'm not sure why some people lose the urge (although some that use a lot of stimulatory laxatives get in that state).There is a thing called bowel retraining. Sitting on the toilet at the times you are most likely to have an urge to try to retrain that...Usually about 1/2 hour to an hour after meals for like 15 minutes. You aren't supposed to sit and strain, just see if the urge comes and act on it... http://health.discovery.com/encyclopedias/194.html is an article about it.K.
