Hi,First post on the board so thought i'd start by explaining things. When I was 15 I suddenly started getting these weird feelings and also had the feeling of liquid seeping out of my anus - this wasn't comfortable, obviously, but i didn't know what it was and i didn't know what to do. after a couple of years of the same i finally went to the doctor and was then sent on to the hospital. i had blood tests and urine tests and a physical examination (where they shove a tube up your backside). Anyway a week later they told me it was irritable bowel syndrome, but... they didn't really tell me anything else - like what i should do or if i would have it forever. now i've had it for 5 years and still don't know what i should do. does anyone else suffer in this way? or have any advice?thanks

I would suggest doing some research on your own. There have been some good books suggested on this site. Sorry, I don't recall the titles. Maybe others who read this can help with that. You should also find a specialist who deals with IBS to get some answers. Also, you need to find out what you can and can't eat. Some foods are triggers for the IBS while others are not. Keep a diary of what you eat and note when you have an episode. This should help you determine what the triggers are. Finally, keep reading this website. You'll find you're not alone and things that you think only happen to you are actually happening to alot of people. You'll also be able to ask questions and get some answers from experienced people. Good luck!
