Does anyone else get like a sharp type pain in the rectum from time to time? I have this and I am wondering how common it is and what it is? I chalked it up to maybe gas moving down...but I don't know as I don't always have gas w/it.Thanx.

Hi Annie,I am no expert on this, but I recently started having the same thing, and came to the BB looking for answers. Try doing a search for something like "sharp pain" and "rectum". You should get some threads that talk about this. It may be something like a charlie horse in the rectal muscles (this is called proct-something fugax, I think) and some people also get pain like this with internal hemmies too. For me, it usually happens when I wake up in the morning, but only lasts for like 5 to 10 minutes, and then is completely gone. Hope this was helpful!Kris

Hi,Yes, very helpful...I am glad I am not alone in this one...I thought that I was odd as that pain in that area of so weird.
