This is a bit difficult to describe, but here goesI am diagnosed as suffering from IBS 'd'i suffer like most when stressed, going out to a party/meal etc.But i have narrowed it down to mainly when i am having a conversation with ANYONE at length, including my wife, I start to get stomach cramps and sometimes 'D'If I am travelling in a car as a passenger and talking, It will come on, and as you all know you have the embarrasment of having to ask to stop. Hate it - not many people understand!Does anyone suffer in the same situation?I suppose it is a form of anxiety!Has anyone found any medication to prevent this happening?

wow John thats an interesting one! It's really good that you have been able to narrow this event of talking to symptoms - well done! Now that you have this theory it is probably a good time to test it out. Just to contribute to your theory I would like to hypothesise that when you are engaged with deep and meaningful conversation you become tense or anxious as you mentioned. In order to test your theory you may have to become the social outcast at parties. Then compare it with your normal socialising.Remeber to keep a very precise record of your symptoms when you test it out. Let us know how you go with thischeers

I'm and actress and singer and I have a theory..... (keep in mind it's just that...a theory)Most people, when speaking or singing, only really use from the chest up..but when you're using your instrument properly, you're controlling the air flowing through your vocal chords from the diaphram. Perhaps you are using your voice correctly and the steady use of your addominal muscle in a long conversation might be causing your colon to activate.Definitely ask a doctor
