Hi I am a 28 year old woman who was diagnosed with IBS when I was 16 and now I am having this horrible pain under my right rib it hurts worse after I eat I have been to the emergency room with this several times and they gave me pain medicine and did an ultrasound and a MRI the last time I was there they said the levels in my pancreas were different when they checked my blood I was there two weeks before and it was 80 and then the last time it was 140 they said there was nothing wrong with my pancreas and want me to see a specialist and possibly have another endoscopy (like the one I had when I was 16) ....basicallly the doctor told me there was nothing else they could do for me in the ER...but I don't have any insurance or a job so I was hoping that someone could help me out or give me some advice....anything would be helpful! I am just tired of living with the pain!

Are we taking a couple of hours of pain that you can do activities even with the pain or severe pain for 6-8 hours to where you can't even walk.If the second you need to find a free clinic in the area or talk to the hospital about checking out the gall bladder because if you are having frequent gall bladder attacks (the 6-8 hours of can't walk pain) regularly it may need to come out. It can become infected and that can be a medical emergency. If it seems more like functional bowel pain (there is a bend in the colon right by the gall bladder under the right ribs (the hour or two of increased pain and you could have driven yourself to the ER if you had to) and you cannot or will not see a doctor (you may also try to find the low cost, no cost clinic in your area to see if you might be able to get a prescription, some of them are generic and pretty cheap) you could try one of my standbys.Peppermint Altoids. This is about the cheapest way to get enough peppermint oil to make a difference. Doesn't help everyone, may make some peoples heart burn worse, but it can reduce bowel pain for some people. You might try it before meals (like 20-30 minutes) and take 2-3 Altoids and see if that helps take the edge off the pain enough for you. Some people like peppermint tea, but usually the cheapest thing is the Altoids.
