I am going to see my GP doctor yet again today. I have been in alot of discomfort for just over a month now, every day. Pinching, abdominal pain on the left, right, middle. Gas Pains, passing of gas, gurgling.. so much!!In the past month I have had blood work (CBC), pelvic and abdominal CT scan, FOBT. But I am not getting better, I think worse. Lately, after I eat, I get pain in what seems like right in my stomach, and then an hour after I eat, it all begins, like I can feel it traveling along my intestines with cramping, pain, rumbling, gas..I have anxiety, and this is making me really frightened. I don't want to go back to the doctor for the third time, but I have been crying so much and can hardly eat right now.Sorry, for my long post, just looking for a shoulder to calm me down.Thank you for reading.

Susan -- {{{{{Hugs}}}}} i'm sorry your going through this! i don't have much anxiety, but i completely understand how you're feeling -- what your ab's experiencing sounds like mine when i'm having bad days... i'll be seeing a dr. for the first time ever about my gut this thursday, and i can totally relate to the part where your reluctant to see your dr again. please try not to cry or to get too emotional -- it will only make the symptoms worse. Try to calm yourself down a little and eat something warm and steamed (no fried food or raw veges etc) -- i also find really focusing on doing something simple but enjoyable (like watching your favorite TV show etc) generally makes me forget my discomfort at least a little bit for a little while. Hope you feel better soon

That sounds really typical of IBS. For a lot of people all the tests to rule stuff out can make the worse because doing test after test makes them really anxious, it can be worse when they don't find anything (like in IBS) than when they do find something. If you need help with the anxiety, either medications or therapy, tell your doctor. Even if you are getting help like that let them know it is not working well enough. Anxiety makes the IBS worse which in turn makes the anxiety worse and sometimes you need to stop the anxiety for awhile to get off that roller coaster. The pain after eating (and maybe even while eating) with the rumbling and all is over-reacting to the gastro colic reflex that happens to every single person after they eat. Have you tried antispasmodic meds 20-30 minutes before a meal. Or peppermint tea or Altoids 20-30 minutes before a meal.Mike's tapes actually help a lot of people with the anxiety as well.K.

Thank you so very much for replying. It brings comfort to me to know people care.I have the anti-spasmodics, but they make me too zombie like and the one under the tongue did not do anything. I actually did try the Altoids, but I think it was too strong as I was getting burning in my chest from it.I could not agree more about anxiety and IBS. A doctor I used to see years ago, told me that with anxiety and when someone has something like IBS, that it has a "snowball effect". I think for me, I am scared and tired of feeling so bad. And, also I am embarrassed to go to the doctor again.. because I always feel like either they are dismissive or look at me like I am being a hypochondriac..but they are not in my body and feeling the discomfort I am.Thank you Kathleen, I am just worried something other than IBS is going on, but your words make me feel better.Thank you again, truly.

Don't forget to ask your doctor to test you for SIBO.
