last month my IBS disappeared for a week, then i had 2 weeks of severe symptoms. now its gone again-- for now, and i noticed both times this happened during the week of my period starting---doesn't the monthly usually increase ibs symptoms if anything?

Hi polly, i think it varies from person to person. I used to get terrible D with my period, but the pain would be better some months, excruciating the next.I have read onhere that some do get IBS relief during their period.I think it's another of the wonderful mysteries of IBS!Lisa

No my duck - you are not alone. I feel absolutely spiffing (ie fine) when I'm on my monthly its wierd isn't it. No, I'm grim mid-cycle. One thing is for sure, it certainly appears to affect alot of IBSers but whether for good or bad - that varies.Welcome to the boardSue, Manchester

Hormones can effect IBS for the better or for the worse.
