Hi there....I've been following this bulletin board for quite some time now, but have never needed to post a question or comment because all my concerns seem to be covered somewhere along the line. I have been thinking it might be great to have a sort of 'personals' area on here where people can email, talk to or possibly even meet others with IBS in living their own areas. I've been single for about 3 years now and find dating almost impossible to consider, since men who know nothing about IBS don't understand what it's like to need to have a bathroom close by. As much as I'd love to be an outdoor type person....there's no way I could get involved with someone who's interests are hiking, biking, golf etc etc etc.It would be so nice to meet someone who understands what this is like, and would be supportive.Does anyone else think this would be a useful category?

VG: I have spent months off and on looking for a website with personals - no luck. It would be a great idea. It would help not feelinhg so self-conscious when trying to meet someone new. This is my first time posting here. I have a question. I have spent four years seeing specialists fir IBS and even saw a holistic kinesiologist for three months. I finally broke down and saw a specialist at the Sansum clinic in Santa Barbara last week. He said it was "Just a motility disorder" and that I was depressed. He told me to see a psychologist and had no recommendation for the daily abdominal pain, etc. Does anyone have advice for what my next step should be? Thanks. -Karl

This topic comes up from time to time. I believe the consesus was that too many people would be uncomfortable with it and Jeff agreed.

Thanks,I had a look at the Yahoo site....there are only 24 members. I'm not sure why people would feel uncomfortable with a 'personals' section. It would be nice to know if there are people in my area looking to meet others with the same IBS related issues. It's hard enough meeting people these days, let alone people who understand the need for speed (to the toilet, that is).Anyway, it was just a thought. I, personally, think it would be popular.

Just noticed the posting started by Katz16000...there are well over 800 replies. Does anyone have the time/knowledge/inclination to sort the replies into some type of database breaking down the a/s/l information so it would be easier to find someone in our own areas in our own age group? I'd be willing to help with the data entry if someone has the knowledge to get it set up....
