So it goes like this, I'm only 19 years old with almost no medical history at all. At the beginning of the summer I thought I'd try running, and so I did. After trying to run for about a week, though this may not be related AT ALL because it still happens, I would be having very weird stools. Stools I've never had before in my life. They were very soft and thin and flat and ripped a little on the sides and such, and I began to become a little worried about my health. So I thought it would pass after a while, but it only got worse. Sometimes constipation would kick in and I wouldn't be able to use the bathroom for about 2 and finally on the 3rd day it would all come out and it would feel terrible. Sometimes even my left eye would get really bloodshot too for some reason. This continued up until about 5 days ago when the real trouble began. I woke up and instantly I felt sick, I rushed to the bathroom and had another bad bowel movement, except this time when I was done the pain got worse. I had a sudden terrible feeling of nausea and I just had a constant on-edge feeling of vomiting and it seemed like there was no relief. I just sat there with a trash bag in front of my all day and sometimes going to the bathroom when my stomach called for it. Then it seems like later in the day, about 7 or 8 PM, almost everything would just sort of go away. I would start feeling better and I thought, well maybe it was another passing thing. Well again I was wrong, the next day the very same thing happened. I just feel so terrible in the morning and just spend hours sitting upright in my bed with the TV on and just feeling like I'm going to puke. I went to the hospital and they did blood work on me, a cat scan, and a urine test and they said everything was normal. They prescribed me Reglan but after reading those side effects there is no way I'm taking that. So yesterday I ate all food without dairy in it to see if I'm lactose intolerant with the exception of yogurt because I read that can be eaten. This morning I had a big floating normal bowel movement, but right after that the diarrhea came back. In any case, can someone please help me. As I sit here and type this I just feel nothing but pain in my stomach and I can;t put any food down without feeling the urge to vomit. I'm so scared about all this. Thank you for reading.

Have you mentioned your continuing symptoms to your Dr?In the meantime please give ginger capsules a try (or ginger tea or ginger ale). I use the capsules and they quell nausea for me in record time. The best person to help you is the Dr right now.... unless you have a diagnosis... Do you have one yet?????BTW.. Just thought about this...Did you change your diet at all when you began the running regime? Also... did you begin taking any new supplements etc at that time??

Thank you for responding, I know it sounds pathetic but I've been refreshing this page all day because I just can't take the pain and needed to hear someone talk about my problem with me. I went to the doctor twice and I have gotten no diagnosis. None from a urine test, cat scan, or several blood tests. They just asked me to come back, so now I have an appointment on Tuesday. I've mentioned all my symptoms and they prescribed me Reglan. And again, I'm am staying far away from that drug. Thanks again for answering, it makes me feel better.

Spaceman at least try the Ginger for the nausea and insist on a diagnosis from your Dr. tomorrow. If he won't give you one... ask for a referral to a specialist. You need a diagnosis. (And you deserve one!)And as I had asked before:Did you change your diet at all when you began the running regime? Also... did you begin taking any new supplements etc at that time??

Firstly, I have taken Reglan many times with no side effects whatsoever. With all medicines they have to state the side effects even though only very few people get them. Doctors wouldn't give you a medicine if they thought it was going to make you worse. It is very difficult for people here to diagnose you, the doctors are the people who can do that. However, if the pain in your stomach is under your right rib cage then you may well have a problem with your gallbladder. I mention this because you said that your stools floated and that you had nausea. If the pain isn't under the right rib cage, is it in a specific place?Let us know what the doctor said please.

Update:Hey everyone I just came back from the doctor. It wasn't my GI appointment but just a normal family physician. I like her a lot and she's very smart (at least how she comes off) and she's never failed to help me before. Anyway, my stomach was hurting as you seen before and it's still a little sore now but NOTHING even close to what it was a few days ago when I posted this. They checked for blood in my stool, and it was negative. They took enough blood to build a human army and did lots of other tests and they all came negative as well. In any case, she told me that the stomach pain was probably a small ulcer or some acid going crazy. She prescribed me hyoscyamine, and let me tell you guys so far it's been helping me. My stomach pain has calmed down a little and I'm starting to feel like a normal 19 year old again. The side effects for this medicine are very basic, like headache/drowsiness/etc. and it's NOTHING like Reglan. When I told my doctor that I was afraid to take Reglan she told me "Yeah I understand, I'd rather you stay away from that" and it made me feel better not taking it and dealing with the pain for a couple days. So in any case, if you ever feel any of my symptoms just feel free to PM me and I'll help you out. Even if this message one day becomes 9 years old.

Spaceman2010 - pleased to hear that you have got some relief. Are you going to see a gastroenterologist or did your doctor just say to see what happens? Your symptoms have a lot of similarities to mine so please report back and tell us how you get on with the hyoscyamine. Thanks and good luck.

Of course I'll absolutely let you know. My gastroenterologist appointment is Monday so I'll know more by then.

Sorry to hear you're having a rough time. But remember that feeling scared, stressed and anxious can make you feel sick. Whenever I'm anxious I feel nauseous. I know it's hard, but try to relax. That might help with the nausea.

I just remembered my post from a while ago when I was having a hard time, and thought I'd come back and share if it helps anyone.Bottom line is, I have Celiac Disease. I went gluten free a little 3 months ago and I for the past 2 months I've felt incredible. The diet of course is a bit hard because I'm a 19 year old college student, but I quickly adjusted to it and now it's basically nothing. With all the stuff they have today, it's quite easy. So, the reason I was feeling sick every morning is because my stomach would finally start to feel better with all the gluten I was getting out of my system, and the second I got even a little bit of an appetite... I just ate more gluten. But once I found out I obviously stopped. Really, good luck to anyone with stomach problems. I feel so bad for any of you that have to deal with these terrible problems daily, it really pains me to think about it. Try screwing around with Celiac tests to see if it helps you, or just go gluten free just to give it a go.I hope you're all well, I'll update again ever so often. Feel better everyone.
