Hello Everybody. This is my first Post. I'm looking for any opinions you can give me. This could be long though......I'm a 25 year old male. For the past 4 or 5 years many times after eating fast food or real greasy food I would have to go very quicky afterwards. My stomach would start making these weirds sounds and rolling and then I'd get this urgent pain to go. After that I would be Fine. Totally fine. Maybe a little bloating or burping. Back in September I ate Captain D's and Sonic in the same day, the next morning I woke up and my stomach felt real weird, and I felt bad. I figured food poisoning. I felt bad for a couple days then like the third day, I ate at O'Charleys. On the way home my stomach was just rolling something awful. I barely made it to the toilet and it was like I exploded. After that I had a pain like right up under my belly a little on the right. After a couple days that went away. Ever since that morning I Hadn't been the same. It was real bad for a few weeks. My stomach was just gurgling alot, and I had some nausea, alot of burping, gas, and of course the-D after eating certain foods. At the first of October I had had enough. I went to my doctor. Told her everything. She had me lay down and she pressed all over my stomach and stuff. They took blood and she sent me home with 3 containers for stool, and like 5 of these little things you smear some stool on it to see if theres blood. At the time I was feeling much better. Results came in, all stool samples were negative, no parasites, bacteria stuff, and No blood. My blood work came back normal except my ALP liver enzyme. She said that was barely high. Normal was 125, mine was 129. I've read around the internet a normal to be in the 140-149 range. So I guess I was pretty happy. Since then I've felt pretty good. No pain really, my stomach has felt real bloated a few times, I've been burping a whole lot, but I started running so I could be swallowing air. I've had some nausea a few times. I'm feeling pretty good, but I'm just not back to normal. I'm going back to my doctor Thursday to tell her I'm still not normal. She's a real, real good doctor, so I don't know what to expect this trip. Sorry for being so extremely Long!!!!! Any tips or info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading.

Fatty, greasy and fried food can cause big problems for IBS patients, and even problems for non-IBS people. Fat is a stimulant. Eat enough of it and your bowels are bound to start to empty.Other stimulants are caffeine and cigarette smoke.

Tell the doc you want to be tested for H. Pylori (if you haven't been tested yet). This is the bacteria that causes ulcers and gastric inflamation. I had it. The first clue I had that something was wrong was when I started burping all the time. This bacteria is curable if you do have it.Stacey

Hello DMB... I am fairly new to this as well and have found lots of answers support from this bulletin board.I was diagnosed with IBS when I was 16 (24 now). Up until a few months ago, it was just a minor inconvience. In September I started feeling SICK!!! I was going through a tremondous amount of stress and out of NOWHERE I had my first severe attack of IBS.I also was eating out a lot before. I soon became scared to leave the house, never knowing when "it" was going to hit. I found that I was able to control it a bit by cooking and preparing my own food, rather that hitting the drive-thru at Mickey D's.
My Mom always said "you are what you eat" and I'm starting to believe her!!Feel better soon,Marnie

Hey dmbtrxIt is scary how similar your story is to mine at the early stages. Seemed to be related to some pretty bad eating habbits, mine persisted after some of the suggested IBS change and now I have a colonoscopy in January. My advice to you is that if it is persistant keep going to your family doctor, eventually you will bug him or her enough to send you to a GI doc.I went down the same path as you; see GP, IBS, test blood; no improvement, see GP again, IBS, eat more fiber, suggested a book, try cholestrymine; no imporvement, see GP again, appointment with GI doc.I have seen the GI doc, now I am slated for a Baruium enema, colonoscopy, and endoscopy in January and to tell you the truth I am looking forward to them, because A) I am not 100% convinced that what I have is IBS, if it is IBS then this doubt/worry is only making the problem worse and
I alomst fell like the last year was a write off for me and am looking forward to finding out what this really is and dealing with it as needed. My advice to you would get this sorted out sooner rather then later so you don't have it festering in your mind for a whole year. Be persistsnt with your doctor, and write down every sysmptom so when you you see a GI doc you are prepared.
