If you have had polyps what were your symptoms and how old were you? Im 25...that is kinda young to get them buy my Grandmother has them which makes me higher risk..I think. She said she had C and D alternating when she had them...that is what I have. Is this likely to be my issue?

Polyps are generally symptomless, although they may bleed a bit so you sometimes get a positive result on a stool test when they look for blood. Most people will get them eventually, but 25 is pretty young so you may need to be monitored more than most people your age.
I first new I had polyps in 1997 (I don't know for how long before that I have them). I was 39 years thenI just check two months back and I was clean of polyps but found that I have IBD.The main symptom is pain in the lower left of the belly and spasm but always have this pain It feels strange without it.
I'm 25 also, but when my polyps developed I was only 23. I had a biopsy performed to see if there was anything to be worried about. Luckily they were of no real concern. My gastroenterologist informed me that they were probably due to the severe irritation in my colon from using the bathroom so frequently. At that time I was diarrhea dominant and was using the restroom up to 10 times a day, had hemrrhoids, tears and internal bleeding... It's possible your polyps may be caused by diarrhea if you experience it often. Since then my diarrhea has slacked up (which I'm so happy about). But I would suggest having a biopsy done just to assure that you have nothing to worry about..

my IBS is C and I had polyps.
My mom doesn't have particular symptoms when she has polyps, but if you have some D or C, it's probably just your ISB that flares up a bit. Polyps by themselves are pretty harmless, but if you let them unchecked, they can turn into more nasty things over time.So as Kathleen says, it's important you keep being monitored on them. Especially if you have a genetic predisposition to develop them earlier. As long as they get removed every time you get checked for them, you're fine.
