Well I'll start at the beginning... for years I've had on and off again issues, not massive swings but occasional inconsistencies. Epigastric discomfort and the such, they'd always do an ultrasound for gallstones then say "stay on your Prilosec"... About 5 1/2 weeks ago now... maybe 6, I think I've lost count, I started with terrible diarrhea, I would spend 45 minutes on the toilet, then another 45 laying on the bed cramped so bad I wished I could die. One the toilet I'd also get extremely nauseous ( I rarely vomit, so it's terrible, I just suffer ) Sometimes I'd be done for the day, sometimes I'd have another session before noon, same thing. Usually afternoon's and evenings were okay, no major issues just bloating and slight cramping. At first I thought stomach bug or something, but it kept going... after about 10 days I went to a new doctor. He wasn't sure what was going on, but he started with a HiDA test, negative, so he set me up for a scope, I said if you're doing one end, do both. Found one stomach polyp, negative for any cancers, negative for H. Pylori, and the only other thing was some slight scarring in the colon. No noticable inflammation. My scope was at 1:30 on a Thursday and they set me to start the "clean out" on Wednesday morning. Despite warnings from everyone on how terrible it was, other than choking down the cit. mag. it was the best couple days until a day and a after after. I didn't even mind the clean out, no cramping, just the no eating part kind of sucked. Anyway, he's kind of lost with this when I see him the next Monday so he sends me for a CT scan ( this is 3 days after the scope with no noticable inflammation) and my colon is so inflamed and angry he said it looked like someone poured battery acid in it. At this point he's stumped, calls another doctor who suggests C. Diff, he starts me on Flagyl, it helped a bit, but not totally, and predisone for inflammation. At this point he still isn't sure if it is C. Diff, but he does realize I start school and need to get an answer. After about 4 days, I'm just a mess again, just now any time of day instead of just morning. So he sets me up with the gastro specialist the next day. For everyone's sake, I'll just say I "wasn't impressed" with him and you couldn't pay me to go see him again... He downplays everything and says there's no way I have colitis and he doesn't care what the CT says, go off EVERYTHING and bring him a stool sample ( I just took one into the clinic that morning anyway) and he gave me Questern (?) a anahydrous/resin binder script. Unimpressed I got directly to my GP who was glad to see me and confirmed I did have C Diff, stay on the Flagyl. Couple days later, no improvement really and I find blood in my stool, so he put me on Vancomycin. I'm at the end of my vanco and I'm back to my morning ritual, just not as severe. When I do have semi formed stools they tend to be triangle or tear drop shaped ( inflammation), and my average passage time is around 8-10 hours, which means some things come out barely processed at all... warning... tomatoes can be scary, but in the end if it has seeds it is NOT tissue chunks!
I did try the prevalite ( Questran) for about 3 days, two packets a day ( what the "specialist" recommended before we found out about the C Diff) in an attempt to get through class without doping up on the anti-diarrheals, but noticed no change at all, and it's just nasty to choke down, so I quit. I know I should have probably given it longer. I'm going to go back in on Wednesday because I need to find something out. I highly suspect it's IBS, I'd love some thoughts from you guys. If I basically go to a clear liquids diet with very small amounts of very bland foods I am okay. By small I mean like two crackers at most. I have issues with my blood sugars dropping and keeping these up can be a pain when I'm not eating much of anything... I get through classes with antidiarrherals, but I can't keep doing this. I worry about going anywhere before noon usually because I get very little warning. And to add to it I've developed hemorroids last Monday to add to my list, which I've been treating OTC with no results. To try to get Basic run down:Severe symptoms of diarrhea, bloating, cramping, gas, nausea in the mornings.Scopes come back cleanPositive for C Diff, but at end of treatment still having issues.Same symptoms, slightly less severe, would say moderate, a 5/10 on 1-10 scale. Triangle/tear drop poo, hemmroids, sorry, also edema and fatigue. Can be controlled for a short period of time with clear diet and anti-diarrheals, but I don't expect when I have class as I don't want to screw anything else up worse.Current Meds- Hemorrhoid suppositoriesVancomycin ( two days left, 4 times daily )Probitic ( try to space it out between the vanco when I can)Tests-EGD & Colonoscopy - neg for cancer & celiacs, nothing significant, minor scarring in colonHiDA - came back fineCT - Shows severe inflammation 3 days after colonoscopy that shows no inflammationFecal- C. Diff + at end of treatmentHemo - CBC - no signs of anemia, eosinophils are twice normal range, and sed rate is elevated as wellIf you guys think it might IBS I'd love suggestions for when talking to the doctor. I'm a nursing student and he knows I do a lot of research and such, so suggestions for me to work with, and for me to take with when I talk to him about diet, meds, whatever. Sorry for the novella, I'm so frustrated, and it's like no one understands, my husband feels terrible for me always being exhausted and in and out of the bathroom and all cramped up. Right now, I just need to get through classes until May, I've worked too hard to get here.... Thanks for reading and any advice.

It's really a bit early for an IBS diagnosis.... your system could still be trying to calm down & heal from the C-Diff. And some C-Diff is stubborn... so try to hang in there.

This is the worst one yet, but I have these episodes several times a year, in the past they just check me for gall stones then are like ehh. I have two more doses of vanco left, but what I don't understand is if it's C Diff why is it only in the morning? Why wasn't the irritation there on the scope, no signs of it at all? And was the C. Diff caused by the scope/clean out? Today I woke up early with a gurgling and as soon as I got up I was in the bathroom for about 30 minutes, then back into bed for about 5 before I was in the bathroom again. Today I took 4 loperamide tabs to get me through class but had two bm's before I even left the house, two while at school, and another when I stopped to pick up cat food on the way home. Could this just be the C. Diff still? Sorry for all of the questions, I can't seem to find anyone around that can help and I'm about to my breaking point as I can't plan to do much of anything unless I'm all doped up and go to a clear diet the night before. Thanks for the reply, I really appreciate it.ETA: We went to the state fair Sunday and so I did the usual go to clean liquid evening before, loperamide tabs, and I was BM free for two days ( til this morning), but when I started moving again after that there was a lot of mucous in my stool.
