IBS has a habit of waxing and waning, so anything that controls symptoms when you are in a mild to normal time may not completely control things if they flare up to severe (whatever your range of mild to severe is).If you had physical or mental stress even you don't do well with hotter weather than can break the control something that controls it during cooler weather (if you are sensitive to hot weather).Probiotics have a couple of modes of action.1. They interact with you in a number of ways. They are living beings and so are you and everything sends out chemicals that may be signals or have effects on the living things around them.2. They reduce gas volume. They cannot completely digest carbs all the way to gas and water molecules so should have less gas when you take them.It would be easy if the one and only problem anyone with IBS had was intestinal flora and nothing else could possibly set off symptoms . Things are not that simple. It can be one piece of the puzzle but it rarely is the complete picture. Diet, weather, emotional state, mental stress, physical stress, how welll you are sleeping, etc, etc, etc, can all play a part and fixing one thing doesn't always mean everything else will stay out of it.
