That sort of thing has been noted in the Medical lit for quite some time. Serotonin, like most things in the body has many roles. In fact more than 90% of the serotonin in your body is in your gut nerves (a vast interconnected neural net called the Enteric Nervous System, formally, and "the second brain" informally by some researhers)Antidepressants are commonly prescribed to relieve IBS symptoms.Several of the drugs being developed for IBS work on various serotonin receptors. Check out the 5-HT3 and 5-HT4 sections of the board as these are two of the serotonin receptors being targetted.K.
