I usually suffer from IBS-D, but I keep getting a reouccuring bladder infection and with it I'm feeling bloated and constipated. I went to the doctors on thursday and she said she could feel that I had quite a bit of stool in there that I had not emptied yet. Few days on and my stomach feels hard and huge and I'm pretty sure there is A LOT in there. But it won't come out, I go to the toilet and nothing. I have been going, once a day(which is not a lot for me) but it has been smal and dry and quite difficult to get out.The doctor reccomended prunes. I have eaten two but so far nothing, and it is starting to get worrylng. I hope my bowel isn't blocked or impacted? My tummy feels uncomfortable and I can feel hard areas which I think is obvisously stool.ETA: managed to go twice, small bits though, the second lot were loose :S but i still feel like I am massively constipated. oh gr, why can't my bowel just work like anyone elses! And when I try to push something out, something comes out of my bottom, like a bit of the inside of my rectum maybe? I'm not sure wheher its just because I'm straining so hard?

Prunes (like apples, pears, peaches and cherries) all have sorbitol in them. Raw plums do as well. You want the juice, dried, frozen, or fresh version and don't cook them. Cooking will cause the sorbitol to break down.Osmotics aren't fast working and you may need to eat a few prunes every day for a few days to get everything moving and you may want to keep it up for a few days once you feel better if you don't have any diarrhea as it will help keep things moving unti you are back to normal.Straining too hard can cause problems, some people can have a prolapse of the lining of the rectum so try to avoid over-straining even if you really feel you need to go. You might try a glycerin suppository as that will help lubricate things so it may slide out a bit easier.

Hey kathleen, I think I may have strained and gave myself piles, I'm going to the drop in center today to see. I kind iof panicked last night because I had no idea what they was. My stomach still feels very swollen and bloated and also sore, I think I may have strained too hard and somehow hurt my muscles. Silly me! I don't know, just kind of concerning when you're used to going so much and suddenly you can't go and with the hard stomach I just felt like I needed to get it all out.Hopefully I'll get some cream and they'll tell me if the hardness of my stomach is okay, maybe give me a suppostry. Bah, really fed up of stomach issues atm
Don't know whats going off in there.

Drop in center didn't have a stethoscope... marvelous, but said there was nothing on the outside and it certainly sounded like piles. After going there I needed to go to the toilet a lot, think the prunes worked! But keep going because my bottom felt unable to squeeze it all out unless it was really urgent. I think this is the suspected piles. I'm going to go to a proper doctor asap though to get an examination with a stethoscope to make sure. Here's hoping the course of anti bacterials I'm on works this time, and the piles fix themself.

I know I keep posting but I'm really worried, I can't push my stool out unless it is very urgent when it is in there, I feel like I have no strength suddenly in my bottom to push stool out. they're coming out small and thin and part of my rectum appears to be coming out also, though it could be piles.I'm going to the drs soon, what happens if my rectum has prolapsed? I'm really worried. Do I need to go to hospital?

It usually isn't a medical emergency and if you want to spend a thousand bucks to sit in the ER waiting room for many hours before they will see you because if you are the healthiest person in there you get seen last, well that is up to you.Usually the push and push and nothing comes out is because the sphincter won't relax to let anything out more than you suddenly lost all muscle tone down there. It may be worth asking the doctor about pelvic floor testing.

Well I went to the doctors and he said he felt nothing wrong and couldn't fathom why my muscle would feel weak and like I couldn't go properly. He said he could feel I hadn't evacuated properly though, but I honestly can't.He seemed a bit like a typical I dont care, its IBS doctor though because he just told me to eat more fibre, when fibre upsets my stomach!I finish my antibiotics today so hopefully if they're interfearing it'll stop that.Just gonna wait a few days and see if it gets better really. If not I think I'll get a second opinion and maybe ask about the latter. Just feels like my insides are falling to pieces atm.
