Sometimes when I feel like I need to pass gas and do, I go to the loo and strain and sometimes stool will come out even when I feel like I don't have to go and feels like nothing is there. Then sometimes I pass gas and strain and nothing comes out even when it feels like there is stool there. Anyone else like this?

Hi Pamlyn. You are not alone, what you just described happens to me Every. Single. Day. A lot of us on here have it, it is a common IBS symptom. I am diarrhea predominant, but it happens whether I am having D or C, doesn't matter. I believe they call it "incomplete evacation". Some people just get the sensation of it, but nothing is really there, and others feel it even if there is a tiny bit of stool there. I get both kinds. And, I think once you have experienced it, your mind begins to dwell on it and you feel the sensation more than you would otherwise. It is a horrible cycle. Sometimes increasing my fiber helps, gets everything all out in a couple tries I guess. But there are times when nothing helps and I feel it all day long, and it is such a distraction, to say the least.

As with every other time you ask about straining:http://www.ibsgroup.org/forums/index.php?s...mp;hl=straininghttp://www.ibsgroup.org/forums/index.php?s...mp;hl=straininghttp://www.ibsgroup.org/forums/index.php?s...mp;hl=straininghttp://www.ibsgroup.org/forums/index.php?s...mp;hl=strainingIt is common in IBS and not a sign of something else or worse. It may help to read the responses to the questions you ask over and over instead of assuming the next time you will get whatever answer you want from us.Have you been evaluated by a doctor?Do you think you have anxiety (many of our asking the same question over and over do) and have you talked to anyone about treating that?
