iam 25/m and have symptoms of IBS for over 2 years now.iam afraid to eat anything because of the bad stomach pains i get afterwards.i have talked to the doctor about my stomach problems,but havent been able to figure out the stomach issue.i want to get a colonoscopy,but iam unsure if i should just ask for it directly,or keep on about my IBS symptoms?it gets frustrating not knowing whats wrong.thanks

I would make a list of your symptoms. Making sure to note their onset, duration & frequency. Make an apointment with your Dr. Then at the appointment, go over your list & ask him/her to please investigate the possible causes of your symptoms. And yes.. if you would like to have a colonoscopy to rule certain GI illnesses out.. by all means.. ask him/her for one!Let us know how you do.All the best
