So pending the Resolor issue (gastro is looking into it) he recommended I consult with a colorectal surgeon colleague. So I have an appointment first week of August. He mentioned possibility of partial colectomy...What are good questions to ask the surgeon? My first question is: What would make me a good candidate? What tests do you require ?

hi mary i would ask the surgeon to fully explain the differences between a partial colectomy vs a total colectomy etc...ask why a partial and not a total..success rates of both etc--complications etc. and i would also ask about scar tissue..what is the likelihood of it forming, how do they fix it or can they prevent it from forming at all and if surgery is required to correct it, how long before it reforms again...questions along those lines.and between now and then i think i would try to read as much as possible about the partial vs the total colectomy--from reputable web sites of course..maybe go visit colectomy forums..search this forum..i remember earlier discussions about both....etc..and probably get a second opinion too.good luck! keep us posted.
