I have shy bowel and these past two days were awful since I had to stay at someone else's place and I couldn't relax and poop at all. I still had the urge to go but, as you understand, I couldn't get not even a tiny bit out. Now, I'm back at my home but this whole thing has affected me strongly and I still can't relax when going to the toilet. My concern is that I'm dealing with intense bloating that's mainly focused on my rectum. And that makes me worried about whether I might have fecal matter in my rectum from not going that may lead to an impaction.

The bloating is awful and I have difficulty sleeping at night. This has happened to me again before and I did eventually go normally but, for some reason, this time I'm so stressed about getting it back to normal that I try to rush myself to defecate. I know this probably makes it worse but I can't help it.

I tried a glycerin suppository but it didn't help. Do you know any other ways in which I can stimulate my rectum or just simply help myself poop? It this type of incomplete evacuation dangerous? Or am I just overreacting? Also, any way you help yourself sleep at night?

I'm currently taking some probiotics.

Thanks in advance for your help.

if glycerin suppositories aren't helping, you could try a bisacodyl suppository. or an enema to get yourself unblocked down there. or use laxatives.

i had a shy bowel, too, and i can really sympathize. it's miserable. once i got home, i would have to take laxatives in order to get things moving again.

and yes, you're right---you have to relax when trying to go. being stressed out and trying to rush things is counterproductive--it just tightens up your pelvic floor muscles all the more. i know you've posted before about this and i'm sorry it keeps happening to you..

i don't know if this will help your or not but here is a good u tube video on how to have a bowel movement without straining. it might help you to relax.

good luck. hope you can find some relief.

Hi annie. Nice to see you again

I have seen this video many times before and it has only helped me once or twice during defecation because my rectum was practically doing its job right on the spot. It doesn't help that much outside of that moment.

Thanks for the info, though. I was thinking of being a bit patient and waiting and maybe it'll eventually work by itself like it did the last time.

I also forgot to point out that for the past two weeks I've been eating a lot of red meat which I heard kind of slows down bowel movements. I've now changed my diet.

What this sounds like is a very weak pelvic floor. The pelvic floor is made up of several muscles that tie into every other muscle in your body. do you have headaches, or posture problems, or sleep problems as well? generally these things are also tied to the pelvic floor. I would seriously recommend trying some Pilates exercises. Pilates will help you strengthen the muscles.

I have absolutely none of these problems and that's why I'm 100 percent sure it's psychological. Incomplete evacuation is something common, though
