Hi,I am new to the IBS bulleting board. Charlie I have had the rash you mention off and on for about a year now, never thought it might be related to IBS!? I have a question. Around the time I developed IBS (about 4 years ago) I noticed that my eyes (particularly the white area) gets very easily irritated and red. Sometimes I wake up in the morning after a very restful night sleep and have red, irritated eyes. I have had my eyes checked a couple of times and all the eye doctors can say is that I probably have sesitive eyes. Recently I was on the Mass Eye and Ear web page and read a report about there being a possible connection with IBS to red irritated eyes. Does anyone else have this problem? Thankfully, my IBS comes and most days It's under control, but, I would like to find out if the irritated eyes is related. Any feedback would be appreciated!Laura

Hi Charlie,The web address for mass eye and ear is www.immunology.meei.harvard.edu - click on the patient information section. There is a list of articles written by Dr. Stephen Foster on autoimmune disease. The two articles I found interesting were the first one on the list titled Autoimmune Disease an Introduction and another called Association of ocular inflammatory disease with IBS. After I read both articles I called Dr. Foster's office and made an appointmnet for early March. I live in Boston where he is located. I thought for years my eyes were just too sensitive and I would have to get used to having them get red very easily. Now it looks like there might be something they can do. Have a good day!Laura
