I have chronic constipation.I also get frequent bouts of indigestion with nausea feeling do not feel hungry, If I eat then the state continues,I have to strave myself till the hunger returns. Due to this I loose weight also.Alcohol intake makes the things worse.I have noted that such thing happens when I am tense mentally. Can any one advise me on this?? Thanks for reading.

Vinay, I have not been truly diagnosed as IBS yet...I'm in the process.. so take that as precaution. However my GI specialist seemed more concerned about my indigestion and heartburn. What he told me was that with frequent heartburn and indigestion the lining of the esophagus can eventually start growing into the same type of tissue as your stomach - this is not a big deal (your esophagus is just trying to protect itself). But apparently after years of this, there is a higher chance for other problems, so they like to scope it annually. Just some info I learned... so mention it to your doctor.I get bouts of indigestion. I can write mine off *entirely* to anxiety... if I'm upset or nervous, the stomach acid starts pumping.. and then, no, I cannot eat and sometimes feel slightly nauseaus. Yes, alcohol intake is bad for me .... 1 glass of wine can turn my already wet poop into water for days.... and I *always* wake up the next day with indigestion after drinking. Mind-Gut connection, I guess.I'd advise to lay off the booze. That's what my doctor said... and if I do drink, then to do it with a larger meal.Good luck. Roo

Thanks Roo, well my IBS started with acid reflux which is same as you mentioned, that is acid entering esophagous. I used to have disturbed sleep due to this, it was awful. Docter told me it is due to anxiety and put me on medication. Will you belive that I am taking medicine now for 10 years and my acidity problem has ceased I am delighted. But my IBS is still there. Yes you are right alcohol is troublesome, I want to quit but can't hold myself in the pub. Thanks again for your reply. I take medicine Pantoprazole which is anti acid and one a day does wonders.best regards
