I know that part of my problem is my excess weight that puts pressure on my intestines and results in pain.I would like to try a diet but am a bit concerned that that might exaserbate my problems.I see that the Atkins diet is not recommended for people with IBS. I am wondering if anyone has had good experiences with ones like the Long Beach Diet?

I don't follow a known diet. It's what I call the IBS diet. Stop eating red meat, try to stay away from milk products...try soy instead. Don't eat fast foods or chips very often. Have lots of soluble fibre such as rice, french bread, potatoes, carrots, pasta, apples(peeled), pears(peeled) ect. Go on Heathers question forum and you can find lists of soluble fiber. I walk atleast 45 mins. I lost 40 pounds over the past year since I took Heathers adive and started focusing my diet on soluble fiber. Hope this helps some
