My Dr./Hospital referred me to this web-site regarding a special diet, or with helping me manage my diet. I am extremely frustrated with this newly diagnosed IBS. If ANYONE can offer any help or a different site, books, ect. I would greatly appreciate it! Also, I worry alot and I am always stressed, which they tell me is a major problem with IBS, makes the symptomes worse, if anyone can offer help for me, let me know! Thank You
Hi Bri - I really hope you're feeling better soon. Hang in there - things really should improve quickly with some dietary changes. There is really detailed dietary information about how and what to eat, trigger vs. safe foods, etc. at http://www.eatingforibs.com/eatcook.htm and at http://www.firstyearibs.com/day3learn.html The info there is taken from the books Eating for IBS and First Year IBS. There are also IBS safe recipes at http://www.eatingforibs.com/recipes.htm Yoga is wonderful for managing stress for IBS. You might look into taking classes or finding a good tape to use at home. There is also hypnotherapy as an option - that has really good success rates for all IBS symptoms.Best,Heather
Oh Heather! Thank you so much! I am going to search these sites tonight, along with yours! Are your books for sale nationwide? So I would also like to ask you What tests have you had done? I see you have had IBS since childhood. I recently had a colonoscopy, my doc didn't find anything, thank God.(but still have the problem
) I was going to ask him to do the test where he goes down my throat to look at my stomach, do you think that will find anything? It does really help to know so many other people suffer from exactly what I am going through! Just last night i thought to myself as i was driving home about just letting my car vere off the bridge! But don't call and have me committed! I would never actually do that, that's just how frustrated I am with this.To anyone else out there who may have questions or would like to talk just send a reply!
Hi - Please do look through all the info at the links I gave you. There is a ton of information for there. There's diagnostic info at http://www.firstyearibs.com/day1learn.html if you're not sure you've been properly diagnosed. A colonscopy is a pretty great test to rule out other disorder that can mimic IBS, but if you're dizzy that's not a typical symptom at all and I'd ask your doc about that. Make sure you've had the blood test for celiac.I went undiagnosed for many years in childhood, so by the time I was finally seen by a doctor who was able to help me I was able to be diagnosed without invasive tests. I had complete bloodwork, and also a good doc who made sure that my symptoms matched IBS.Both books are at bookstores nationwide, or can be ordered at http://www.heatherandco.com/catalog.htm Best,Heather
