A few weeks ago I went camping. Ever since I got back I have had very bad stomach cramps, and chronic diareah. This has been going on for about 2 weeks now. I finally made an appointment to see my healthcare provider tomorrow morning. Just for my sake though does anyone know what might be causing this and what kind of tests (if any) will be ordered. Thanks for any of your help.

Cindygal--It's possible that you may have picked up a parasite if your drinking water wasn't treated or boiled. They will probably take a stool sample and look for evidence. If the sample is positive, they will probably treat you with Flagyl or something similar. Glad you made an appointment with your doctor. Good luck. Hope you feel better soon.

SLM- you were right. I went to my doctor this morning and he said the same thing you did, I probally have an intestinal parasite. He has instructed me to do a stool analysis. I have to collect 3 seperate BM's in vials that the lab gave me. This sounds nasty, ever had to do it?

The first thing they do when you go in for nonstop D is a Stool analysis. I had to take in a stool sample once. I had to catch it in a platic container and drop it off at the lab. I think they checked for O&P (ova and parasites). Then I think they do a culture to see if any bacteria grows. They do a culture if they suspect C. Diff. (a bacterial overgrowth usually caused by antibiotics).By the way, mine was negative. Just IBS.
