I have surgery coming up next month. I can't take pain meds because of my IBS-C. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have more concerns about the IBS-C cramping from the narcotics then the post op pain.
Thanks,Steve

When I had molar pain just before a root canal my gastro prescribed Tramadol (generic for Ultram). In any case you shouldmake sure to discuss this with your doctor and surgeon BEFORE the surgery.

Thank you Mary,I have tried Ultram and just about every analgesic all the way up to morphine (I have a number of other health issues that cause pain) and they all aggravate the IBS. I would rather deal with the pain from the surgery using Extra Strength Tylenol then the IBS pain from using the opiates. Choose your poison
My Gastro has suggested a partial colonectomy as a last resort. Any thoughts on that? All the best to everyone,Steve
