I was playing on the web today and came across this web site: http://www.bradyinstitute.com/headlines.html It basically says that underlying emotions are the cause of IBS, Fibro, back pain, etc.I am curious to hear your thoughts.

ya,ya...If we were "robots" we would have no trouble .... so why i have to go to the garage to repair my car?? isn't it a sort of robot??It's not because a cause can't be found nowadays than there is no cause. May be in a near future they will say, "now we know why" because of a new discovery (like ulcer). It's not because you have no seen OVNI that the phenomenon could not be real.----

I have such a hard time when I read something like this...Maybe it's because I need to take a look at something I dont want hear...I just cant grasp it
For 40 years my emotions has been making me sick (so I have been told) I am now learning that Food Intolerance is playing a part in my IBS-D...I know I worry alot and have stress in my life but in my heart I have always felt that there is something going on a little more then stress
When you live with this illness it creates stress....) Even though I hate to admit it emotions play a role in IBS

I posted this from their page Recent studies conclude that: Heart Attacks and Hypertension are associated with Anger and Hostility. Chronic Back and Neck Pain can be caused by mounting Repressed Emotions Skin problems like Acne, Eczemya and Psoriasis are related to Stress & Emotions Irritable Bowel Syndrome is caused by Stress and helped with emotional release Fibromyalgia is strongly associated with overwhelming Psychological stress Physical Health is improved greatly with meaningful Spiritual involvement. Many physical problems have emotional causes. In response to mounting stress and strong repressed emotions you can actually develop physical symptoms - this is known as Tension Myositis Syndrome or TMS.If you suffer from TMS, you may have one of the following conditions:Back Pain; Neck or Shoulder Pain; Fibromyalgia; Chronic Fatigue Syndrome; Myofascial Pain Syndrome; Irritable Bowel Syndrome; Gastritis and Headaches and More!

Jen,You're right. However one has to surf a few other pages to find the claim for IBS.Last time I heard such robust claims, it was from a snake oil salesman.

when you look for an emotional pattern among people that are aflicted by some illness you find it! doesn't means it's the cause.Obviously, when you become sick, at the very beginning there is almost no emotion but if that condition stay and stay and stay then the question "what's going on?" is coming and a lot of emotion TOO since you don't feel quite well AND don't know what's going on AND there is NO response...I don't thing that anybody really sick will ever say "i don't care"...So the stress add to the illness only.I have a story.I felt down of my bicycle one day and had a sciatica. I had all syntoms but nothing was found wrong. When i was not stresses i had some pain in my leg. When i was anxious about "when this will end?" (it last for one year!) then the pain was worst and when finally the problem cleared (i don't know how) whatever was my emotionnal state i had NO pain! nada in my leg. So the pain was the initial trigger while the stress was just adding on it.------
