·I have had troube ibs d for several years but the last 6 months have gotten much worse. I need to have 3+ bm's each morning. Many times acompanyed by cramps. After looking at this board, I started using Caltrate plus and had fantastic results. I started with two pills per day. After finishing the first bottle, I tried chewables and found them to not work as well. Then I went back to the purple box to no avail. Still not working. This condition had gotten bad enough for me to finally get an apointment. With initial phone visit, nurse suggested I try metemucil(?). The first week it worked great! I was scheduled for a "colon scope" apointment one week later. Now, ever since the "prep" for the exam, I can't seem to get good relief. I can not understand why the metmucil has stopped working. I increased the dose and only got constapated by doing that.BTW, I am lactose intolerant. I avoid dairy. I do not drink milk at all, I do eat some cheese. In past, with use of lactaid pills I had not had much trouble. Some more history. My work is very physically demanding. I work outside most of the time in extreme environments. (hi temps)I would appreciate hearing any ideas about this and why some things work for a while and then quit working.
