Hi all,I am new to this board and boy, do I feel blessed that I am totally not alone! My husband "goes" like clockwork and he doesn't eat very healthy. I eat bran daily, exercise daily, plenty of fruits, and if I drink anymore water I'll be a sailor. My IBS-C started over 10+ years ago, but I was able to manage it with exercise and diet. However, the past couple of months, not sure what changed besides me turning 31. My BMs changed drastically. I have tried suppositories, enemas, stool softeners, laxatives, prune juice, seena, Mag. Citrate. The only thing that seemed to be working was Mag Citrate. But now that takes up to three days to work, and that is drinking 10 ounce bottle daily. I am getting extremely frusterated and I see a GI Dr tomorrow. My Dr did put me on Zelnorm and I have been on it now for two weeks with zero results except pretty bad chest pains. I just ordered Colonix so I am hoping that will give me some relief along with my GI visit tomorrow.I went on a vacation with some friends about two weeks ago. They all eat cheese, fast food, smoke and all get the "beer runs". I actually was wanting that too, as I ended up in the E.R. with massive constipation...and E.R. enema didn't really work on me. They said I am backed up on my right side. Ugh.I just want to thank you all for listening. As I feel that I am somewhat alone on this issue.

Hi and welcome SallySue!! There is a wealth of information on this board that you can and will find answers to. Good luck with you GI appointment tomorrow!! Be upfront and honest about EVERYTHING that's going on with you!! The best thing is to write a list to ensure you don't miss anything. Even if you think it's not important or related - it can be.I've suffered my entire life with constipation and my parents were told when I was 15 months old that I would have problems my entire life - that was 40 plus years ago.Like you, I've tried EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING. Anything that did work (which wasn't much) the outcome was little to nothing.I too ended up in the ER. Nothing they gave me really helped and that's when I realized it's time to do something and made an appointment with a good GI doctor. After many, many tests, Colonic Inertia was the final diagnosis. By this time I was referred to a colorectal specialist who took over. I too tried the Zelnorm and Amitiza (similar to Zelnorm) with no success. In fact it actually left me sick to my stomach, horrible headaches, and very dizzy.I've been taking Miralax by the capfuls everyday along with Lactulose (which causes a lot of gas) and I'm lucky if I just pass gas. Very little and I mean little success with a BM. Thankfully, I'm having a total colectomy Thursday. Finally after many years, months of testing, and trying ANY AND EVERYTHING, I'm about to see light at the end of the tunnel, or better yet, gold at the end of a rainbow!!Good luck with your GI appointment.

SallySue, Thank you very much!!! As well, please keep us posted on your colonoscopy. Just remember to keep opon on having additional testing done. My colonoscopy turned out well, but it didn't answer any of my problem. Just a FYI.
