Happens to me. I think it has to do with stress. Also I will be feeling that, and then get really nervous about something and I will get the urge. Sometimes it's not much of anything and sometimes it makes the pressure go away. (trying to not be too graphic)I think it's normal and I think since you fluctuate it's probably happening when your stress level gets higher.

oh dear, that's just IBS-C. the story of my life for the past 6-7 years. In my case the normal days eventually disappeared and the days of just not going...stcuk. Literally. Keep an eye on this and be aware of the things you can do in these times to be regular. Fiber, if it works. A little magnesium oxide, miralax, etc.Dana

Postmortem - I get periods like this myself. I suppose part of overcoming it is learning to accept that this is IBS and this is what it does. When I get changes with my BM's I start to get very stressed and the focus of my day-to-day life becomes the (mental) desperation to pass a normal BM.I've been getting nothing but pellet poop lately and it's really had me down. I hope everything returns to normal for you soon.

i know exactly how you feel sugarloaf... i went from a top student to nearly failing because i'm obsessing over my bm and what not. even if i feel better im waiting for the moment my bowels spazz. its horrible.do you guys feel like your anus or whatever wont open when you strain? all i feel is flesh kind of like turning inside out? when i get C. sorry for tmi, just trying to figure this god forsaken thing out.this morning i had oatmeal and had a bm it was decent i suppose, later got pebbles then some short ones. a big part of me really hopes i dont have ibs since they never ran any tests on me or anything, they just told me i have ibs. i plan on getting tests done over the summer, but i guess it probably is ibs and all those different stools are a result of my stomach spazzing argh.

Your BM's do sound very IBS like, postmortem. The fact that your BM's are alternating between normal and abnormal is very typical of IBS. Do you sometimes feel that you have a BM due (like you can feel it in your rectum) but you just know that it is nowhere ready to be passed yet? I get this, and if I were to go straight to the toilet, I know I wuld be there forever, heaving and straining and possibly with only a couple of pellets to show for my effort. So when I get the feeling that a BM is lurking, I keep on my feet, walk around the house, do some bending and stretching for a good 10-20mins, and I find this can help in motivating my bowel. It might help some for you.Currently my last 2 BM's have been very normal, but the last one had a strange two-tone color, like brown and maroon. So, that gave me something new to obsess over - even though, I have had this in the past. I guess it's hard to except that there are so many deviations from the norm caused by IBS, and far too easy to get wrapped up in trying to figure out why our BM's aren't totally perfect.

Hi,I've read your posts and I'm also in the same boat. If I don't pass a BM first thing in the morning, I won't go all day and I'm miserable--no urge. So when I wake up in the AM, I'm so obsessed about having a BM--and the stress of this is not helping matters.I just came back from the Gastro and found out that the pain (down under) I've had lately is from a tear (fissue) that I created from straining. Now, I have one more thing to deal with and don't know how long it will take to heal.I did find that eating cooked prunes at night helps to create some movement in my colon and also taking magensium tablets.
