Valium really helps my ibs. ( i take half a 5mg at bedtime on alternative nights) This would lead to the obivous conclusion that a lot of the problems are psycological but I disagree. I think what the valium is doing is interfering with the neurotransmitters from brain to gut and relaxing them.Unfortunatley we are all aware of the side effects of long term valium use, Oh why do we live in such a ying yang universe, "sure this will help ya but down the line it's gonna hurt you" damn you Karma!!!!

I take ativan twice a day. Stress can make my IBSd worse and it is a circle of events, like which came first the chicken or the egg. IBS can make stress worse and stress can make IBS worse. We do what we have to do to try to take back our lives so don't feel bad about using valium. I cannot take valium so he put me on Ativan, calms my anxiety and that is all that matters. I do Linda's calcium and that has really helped with the diarrhea. We must live in the present and not think about the future as every med has side effects. Good luck with finding something that helps you and keep reading the boards. The advise you will find here will be beneficial. Gadjett
