My GI doctor just recently prescribed Verapamil for me since Lotronex was recalled. Verapamil is used for heart patients to help with angina and hypertension. This medicine slows down smooth muscle contraction like heart and colon muscle and has a constipation side effect. While this medicine has not helped me as much as Lotronex did, it's something. There are none of the other side effects that occur with anti-spasmodics that I have been prescribed in the past. The constipation is a welcome side effect for me since I'm used to having diarrhea almost 3-4 times a day. Has anyone else used this treatment? Please let me know if it worked for you. Thanks!

There is one obvious side effect. It will lower your blood pressure. You might feel it in a big way if you try to stand suddenly.
