Okay, my mom doesn't really get what exactly IBS is so she is all the time trying to cure me, bless her heart
. She came home with this vinegar solution book and it says to take 2 tbs of apple cider vinegar mixed with a tsp of honey to neutralize the stomach before each meal. My aunt swears by it since she did this everyday for 2 months while going through chemo with her colon cancer. I was just wondering if anyone else has ever tried this.

My boyfriend swears by vinegar....except he adds some baking soda to it. It smells repulsive...I don't think my tummy would let me take it in. But he says it works for him when he's feeling nauseous. I just haven't got the guts to try it.
While I've never tried the vinegar idea, I noticed that whenever I cook my eggs in the morning with olive oil, my IBS doesn't act up too bad. Or whenever I take some olive oil at night with dinner. I dunno what it is, but it seems to do the trick every once in awhile.

I don't see how this would do anything other than get the acid going earlier. Besides, what would stomach acid have to do with IBS?

It sounds like it has no effect. Conditions just wax and wane all on their own.
My mother use to drink apple cider vinegar mixed with honey every day, she called it the Vermont home elixer. I don't know how this would help your stomach, but she was never sick during the winter months.
Wow, my mom drinks apple cider vinegar and lemon juice in hot water every morning... says it cleans out the toxins
who knows it may help something!

I think the lemon juice in warm water is a liver cleanse. People do it for a month when they are trying to de-toxify the liver.
This is for GERD or acid reflux. It has nothing to do with IBS.
Yes, it DOES work very well for GERD and overall health as well. It has to be Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar name brand. It should not have an adverse affect on IBS.
Apple cider vinegar, honey & peach detox, lemon juice and cardamon sp? is my never fails cold/infection/flu knocker-outer. I've used it for years for strep throat, the flu and when I used to get persistent urinary tract infections. It really did wonders for me, and I never had to resort to any other medications. However, I've never been brave enough to drink it on a regular basis to see if it would help my IBS... it's some pretty strong stuff and I usually have to hold my nose when I drink it. hehe.
No, I havent even heard of anything like that! I wish i wasnt so pesimistic, I know I need to give stuff like that a go!Thanks for the tip
My wife takes it quite often after eating a big or fatty meal. She says it increases stomach acid and aids in digestion. I find it has no effect on my IBS.
I have heard of this. I would think maybe it would help the D because of the Pectin in the apples. I have heard of this for liver detox but would be wary as far as the extra acid in the stomach. I would worry it would cause too much acid but I am not a doctor. Just a thought.-Vamplady
