Just wanted to tell you all how great and special you are. I have been around here for quite a while now and even if I don't always post I do read the posts a few times a day. It's people like you that have gotten me through all this.I am telling you this because of another support group I joined. I joined a support group for Fibromyalgia last night and posted a message since I had just been diagnosed as having it. Well, so far I have gotten no response. Looking at the different posts it almost seems like only a couple people even talk to eachother on there and ignore everyone else. To me a support group should definitely make you feel welcome and comfortable and to share experiences with and help. Much like your support group. But nope, I felt unwelcome and am still wonderring if anyone on that bb is even going to acknowledge that I posted and joined. So I just wanted you all to know that you are doing a fantastic job in supporting eachother and offerring even just a shoulder to lean on. Thank you for that.Sandi

Sandi, Right back at you!!!! To give the other board the benefit of the doubt, try bumping it up. Also there is a Board here that discusses Fibro. Look down there by "Hop To". Sorry if you knew that already.BQ

I was actually just thinking the same thing! I have only been on the board a couple of weeks, and it has changed my life already. The support is amazing, never mind all the knowledge and information that is available. It is better than going to any doctor for me (of course, we all need to be treated by a professional, not knocking that at all). But when someone understands what you are going through and has felt the same pain, it's different and much more comforting. I have had many laughs at the posts here, it has greatly lifted my spirits.. I felt so alone until I found this board, it has really made an impact on me and the way I veiw my IBS and my decision to stop letting it control me and take control of it and me again!!Thanks to all!

Oh, I agree. It is so uplifting to know that others do care, and will answer your questions no matter how simple or how complicated. Then to have the gift of laughter is a wonderful bonus.

Totally - this BB is the greatest and you guys are the greatest
There are just so many supportive and caring people who always take the time and trouble to help and comfort when needs be.I don't think its even possible sometimes to measure just how useful and wonderful this BB is - especially when your having a bad day.Thank you - to all of you - and especially to Jeffrey Roberts for giving us this forum in the first place.I certainly know I would be lost without it!Clair

There are no words to adequately say "Thank You" to all the caring members of this BB. Since I announced that I am currently undergoing treatment for melanoma, total strangers have acknowledged their caring to me and have been saying prayers for me! It is impossible to quantify or qualify the degree of comfort and relief it offers when you are 'suffering.' Thanks again to one and all.Hollis------------------

Sandi - know what you mean about this BB! Felt like a freak until I started on here.I used to belong to another BB; one that dealt with parents of teens. They seemed to be very supportive and caring from what I read off other posts. So I posted about a problem I was having with my 18 year old son, and I got blasted off the face of the internet! I got answers all right, but most had to do with "why is an 18 year old still living at home?" (Duh, he's still in high school.) Anyway, turns out that they were just a mutual admiration society and if you were in the inner circle, you got supportive advice; otherwise, no dice. It's better here and I get GOOD advice about my son on the Meeting Place

I agree with all the sentiments and I would like to add that I have found some very important info that has helped me be functional. Plus my doctor thinks I am too analytical - you guys answer my questions without judgement.

Sandi,I read/post on a couple of CFS and Fibromyalgia boards, none of which get many posts or replies to posts. I think this is because generally the boards members are so tired all the time from their illnesses, and may also have trouble understanding the written words, and may also have problems with their vision, that it is hard for them to post. This is certainly the case for me. Also, there is little in the way of self-help measures that people can take for these illnesses that are safe and sensible, so perhaps there is less traffic becuase there aren't so many posts on that. Whereas in comparison, there are many many things to try for IBS. Have you visited the CFS and Fibroymyalgia boards at the Massachusets neurology website, linked to the hospital? There are some really nice people over there. Susanp.s less than 24hours is not a very long time for people to reply. Especially as that has been over an evening time. I think a lot of people are more tired in the evenings and maybe check the boards less then. [This message has been edited by wanderingstar (edited 03-16-2001).]
