I thought I was the only one as well. I told my sister I am the only one who can have 6 bowel movements a day and d as well and not loose a stitch of weight. I should weigh about 100 pounds by now. I want to loose weight as well but there isn't even that happening.
In IBS the diarrhea is basically a colon event so nothing has changed about how many nutrients/calories you absorb.Losing weight even if you eat enough is a sign that something other than IBS is probably going on (either in addition to the IBS like diabetes or another GI condition that effects the small intestine like crohn's or celiac).I think a lot of people with IBS end up being a lot less active than they were when they were well (I know I was when the IBS was bad) and when your activity level drops even the same amount of food will end up packing on the pounds.K.
