There are 3 main IBS types:IBS-C (CONSTIPATION predominant)IBS-D (DIARRHOEA predominant)IBS-C/D (alternating CONSTIPATION/DIARRHOEA)Those are 3 basic types, but they are not mutually exclusive. A person who is IBS-C may suddenly become IBS-D and vice versa.I think that there are many more IBS subtypes, but I don't know whether they are "oficially" recognised. For instance, some people have predominant pain, cramping, change in stool frequency, etc., but are nor really either - C nor D.
