I have IBS c/d, and am thinking of asking my doc for lotronex. The thing is, when I take fiber for my C, I get terrible pain, and diarrhea the next day. It is pretty inconsistent.Do you think if people with IBS D/C took lotronex and a fiber, they would be helped?Just pondering.LALA

I am going to see my Doctor on Wednesday. With the exception of this past week, my D hasn't been too bad, although I still get alot of cramps and gas. I don't know what I did this week but the D has been acting up. But even if it stops or slows down, I'm still going to ask for this prescription and I'll ask him what should I do if I get constipated? I'll see what he says.

I have predominantly C IBS, but it also isn't consistently that way. I have seen two IBS specialists and they both recommended I try Lotronex, starting with a low dose. My doc is out of town so I haven't tried this yet. I'll report the results asap. best of luck.

If I understand correctly, Lotronex is for D and C/D. It is so new I think you will have to talk to the Dr., but it may just be trial and error until it has been out in a while. It seems logical to me that if C is a side effect, we should take fiber supplements.
