It does mean Gastro Intestinal-so brought on the xray series GI series and upper and lower GI- the doctors specialize in these - but they are GI specialists- not GO doctors.

Ha that is so funny. My GP told me GI meant gastroenterologist. I guess it is GI specialist shortened to just GI. It just goes to show ya how well we communicate in this world lol. No wonder I always thought GE was a more appropriate anagram. (I hope that is what it is called lol)
