Depends on how they remove the colon.For constipation due to inertia (nothing moves any more) they usually do a sub-total version where they cut out most of the colon then connect the rectum to the other end of where they cut it off.For other diseases they may or may not be able to do things like that. Sometimes the rectum is too damaged and one has to wear an external device. Sometimes there is enough good parts left they can build an internal pouch and you may only need the bag while things are healing up.K.
