Hi all,Just wondering how everyone would sum up a 'normal' day for you, normal being as close to having no issues as you get.For me I typically have my 1st BM within the 1st hour or so of being awake, this can be striaght away or after some breakfast and by the time I get to work. Typically it will be soft and slightly formed or in bits. Then I will have for the next hour or so a feeling that I will need to go again, until I do go again. This will again be soft, but can be a little less formed but can be in bits also, sometimes quite loose. Then I will 'normally' go perhaps between lunch time and mid afternoon once and then maybe in the evening, these tend to be smaller and take a bit longer to pass but still soft.In terms of pain I do get days where I will have the above but little discomfort, apart from the fullness/urgency before going. But other days I have a dull nagging pain typically in my left side, anywhere from my ribs, to my hip, around the front a little and also my back. Can describe pain as being, achey, prickly burning, sometimes sharp, just there.... Have had the odd occasion of all over tummy tenderness and churning. Also get gas quite a lot, particually in the evenings and sometimes mornings. So as close to 'normal' as I tend to get is a pattern as per above regarding BM's and pain and discomfort free... But after a few days like this I tend to get a few days with the added achey pain also!!Ippo

My typical day is get up about noon-ish use the loo. Then I am good for the day maybe get some discomfort in my stomach and gas at night. Some days I feel I have the incomplete BM feeling which is very annoying but doesn't interfere with my day.Cheers

At the moment i wake up every morning with no appetite at all. I force down some cereal and shortly afterwards the daily nausea begins.During the day this will comeand go but no appetite is constant.I will try and eat small amounts when i can (but it's not enough to maintain my weight).By the time o go to bed the nausea eases off (but still no appetite).I generally sleep quite well.I see the gastroenterologist tomorrow and i am severely depressed and anxious now as a resulst of 12 months of these symptoms.

Hi TanaG,Not sure what causes them, guess it is just a mid way between bad D (watery) and 'normal' formed stool... I dont normally have bad D, do get it on the odd occasion but normally soft/formed/bitty stools... The pain is the thing that bugs me the most, today has not been the best day for me pain wise, hopefully it will pass soon!

Hello, After more than a year of suffering from symptoms ranging from Moderate to Severe abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation, rectal bleeding, nausea, depression and anxiety, I went in for every test they could throw at me and the final result is of course IBS. I've been on Bentyl for 8 months but can no longer continue as it was causing sever confusion and memory loss. Fustrated with all my Doctors, none of them seem to know all that much about IBS.A "normal" day for me goes like this;Nausea upon waking, the feeling of imminent BM, but usually will not have one for at least an hour. Cup of Ginger tea for breakfast, then Loose watery BM within the hour. I have moderate to severe pain for most of the morning, then try to eat a small lunch, with 5 minutes another BM. The afternoon is the worst for me with anywhere from 3-6 BM between 1 and 8 pm. The pain can be so bad as to keep in bed all day. The anxiety from even thinking of running errands or heading out with friends is enough to make me break out in a sweat and have a racing pulse. My Blood pressure is through the roof. Trazodone for sleep every night, and then back to the grind in the a.m. Every few days the D will turn into Severe C and cause even more pain. There is little to no relief from BM's. I have found myself at the end of my rope and hope that being able to connect with other sufferers of IBS will help me cope and find new things to try and help the symptoms.I'm 31 married and mother of 3.

My IBS changes quite frequently. (Different amounts of BMs, different pain, C & D)Sometimes (like right now) I wake up really early in the morning due to having pain/needing to go to the bathroom. I go once or twice and it's usually D and then often times I can be good for the rest of the day.Other times though it's different.I do have some level of pain/discomfort daily though.

For me I wake up and having taken Metamucil the night before, I go about 3 times within the hour I wake up. Its usually formed and all that for the most part unless I ate something I shouldn't the day before or am close to my period which always sets my bowels into overdrive for the next 10 days. Most days I'm alright the rest of the day, especially if I am eating food at home making the right food choices are important for me, I don't know all my triggers yet but I know eating out at most restaurants is a nono unless they have MSG free food. So after the morning bit I can be fine all day with maybe one other BM later at night OR I can go out and eat at an unsafe place, get in a fight with the boyfriend, get stressed out about something, or a number of other things and my body just goes nuts. Other then bowel issues I can also get nausea for no reason...and my BMs will be fine and no problems there but I just feel nauseous. Sometimes it can last all day as well.
