What do you mean by 'stomach pill'? Do you mean medications for IBS? There are several things to try with the help of your doctor: antispasmodics and antidepressants. If you mean medications for indigestion there are many over the counter preparations you can try. I take Remeron (mirtazapine), an antidepressant which does help my IBS diarrhoea and pain. I also do hypnotherapy (Mike's IBS Audio 100 Program), transcendential meditation, and take calcium and Ibsacol. I have changed my diet around a lot as well. What works for one may not work for another. ------------------susanIBS D/C type & M.E/CFS

I don't think I have IBS. I think I have H.Pylori. I have been taking a capsule called "Mastic Gum". It is not a "chewing" gum, but rather the resin of a tree, that only grows on an island called Chios, in the Mediteranean. There are many similar sounding products, so you must look for exactly this item.I took 1 cap in the am and 1 in the pm.I drank about 100oz of water a day with it for 10 days. I now have very good movements. It is the most effective herbal remedy I have ever found. The New England Journal of medicine also signs off on it....Try this link and scroll down past the sales stuff, to read the article. http://www.modernherbalist.com/products/mastica.html Here's another interesting link from WebMd http://webmd.lycos.com/content/article/1668.50289 HTH[This message has been edited by NickT (edited 08-14-2001).][This message has been edited by NickT (edited 08-14-2001).]

I take Mintacin, a natural anti-gas that contains simethicone and peppermint oil. Lately I've had enough gas that I had to take a dose of 2 capsules once or twice a day. I'm hoping that's because I went back on the metamucil twice a day regimen last week - my C had come back again. I also take Acidophilus Plus, with a. and bifidobacteria. I'm increasing that from once a day to twice. It also helps prevent yeast infections.I take pepcid for occasional indigestion. If I have a bad flare-up I take previcid 30mg and bentyl 10mg as needed. I try not to take bentyl for more than a day or 2 because it usually leads to C.So far I can prevent flare-ups by avoiding my trigger foods - fruits, sugars, onions.

I have IBS-D and have tried several Rx's. I have tried Reglan, Bentyl,Lotronex, Cholestyramine, Equalactin(OTC), Buspar and now I'm on Amitriptyline, Prilosec and calcium. The whole thing is that it's different for each person and you need to try different drugs and combinations. Don't give up if the first med you are put on doesn't work. Good luck.

Still wondering what you mean by "stomach pill."------------------Brenda S, R.N.This too shall pass !Although I am a nurse, nothing I say here should be taken as medical advice, its only personal experience. See your own doctor for any medical questions & answers.

I use Gaviscon for reflux. My HMO won't pay for Prilosec, and I can't tolerate any of the OTCs like Zantac etc.
