quote:Your body manufactures all the enzymes you need, except one: CELLULASE.
False. It's irrelevant; the body does not need cellulase. The enzymes the body does have do a fine job on the foods people eat. The bacteria in the gut handle the rest and provide us with nourishment indirectly.
quote:When "bloating" and "gas" occurs on a regular basis it shows that you havea Cellulase enzyme deficiency.
No, it does not. Some volume of gas is normal. Bloating is not necessarily related to gas, either.
quote:You probably know what poor digestion (a lack of digestive enzymes) feels like.
How would IBSers know? They have normal digestion.
quote:When foods are eaten in a fresh, raw state is when enzymes are present and able to perform the digestion of foods.
Enzymes in food are just proteins, which is just another nutrient. They have no role whatsoever in digestion.

Gastrointestinal sounds have to do with the gastric phases of the migrating motor complex according to http://www4.infotrieve.com/newmedline/deta...+humans&count=1 "The chronological relation between antral motility and gastrointestinal sounds, and the dissimilar effects of erythromycin and somatostatin, suggest that antral contractions increase gastrointestinal sounds, perhaps by supplying gas into the intestine"

I am getting to the point of FEAR OF EATING, I tell u almost everytime I eat something, my tummy goes bizerk, I feel best when i do not eat, may sound crazy, but all those noises are sooo embarrassing, especially in church when it is quiet. Thanks for the enzymes suggestion, I will try that one.

(I'm an IBS-D) This mostly happens to me at night. My husband thinks it is terrifying and is convinced I need to go to the hospital! thank god I dont have too much gurgling during the day, I used to have that in High school, but luckily no more, it would be really embarassing in my tiny grad school classes! but generally I am ok in the morning and get progressively worse until I go to bed and then wake up "ok" the next day. I can sometimes keep the gurgles/bloating/gas down if I eat very small meals and keep the whole day of eating less than 1100 cals. Its hard, but I'll do anything to stop this nasty IBS-D! I try to only eat 300 cal meals and a few 100 cal snacks a day. I also try and have a liquid day once and a while to ease all of my tummy issues!!!

Im a gurgler! I remember one exam where it started of small, quiet, peaceful...and then increased. The worst ones are the ones where ur clenching tight to prevent gas from passing then...it flares up SOO loud that you know you cant hope that nobody heard it. The more you clench, the louder it gets, until the invigilator starts to get a concerned look on their face! Frotunately, I think of it like "they will have forgotten about it by tomorrow"!

I'm a gurgler. I had one week where my tummy just kept making noises nonstop. During that week, I was talking to a friend of mine, and she could even hear the noises over the phone! Mine are usually very loud! I haven't had a loud one happen in class yet.

Hi, had to register and mention this, because recently I was curious about it. It goes away when I eat properly, especially organic food <-- In the past this was the ONLY way I got over my IBS. (Also, my psychiatrist believes one should look at anxiety issues (I am on Seroquel XR, Lamotrigine and Lexapro which helps anxiety/depression/bipolar) behind IBS and treat anxiety not the IBS purely).Anyway, yes, below the left rib, I find if I press and play with it I can relieve some of the gurgling. I believe it is the SPLENIC FLEXURE of the COLON, and in bad scenarios it is SPLENIC FLEXURE SYNDROME(?)I'm not a doctor but I did Biology at college so, I may not know that much but I don't think it is the stomach, I don't think it's spleen, kidney or pancreas because I don't think you can "massage" them like you can do your intestines (my Dad's a doctor and when I have indigestion he "taps" on different parts of the intestine on my body to detect gas buildup... unfortunately he's not living in the same country as me now so I can't ask him about the splenic flexure). When I "play" with what I think is the splenic flexure, I can feel like a little "popping" when I press my finger across the bottom of my left rib. So not just under my left rib, but putting my finger under and *against* the bottom part of the actual bottom-most left rib bone. This feels like "popping" some "stuck" gas. About 30 minutes to 60 minutes after this usually I am able to pass gass or pass motion, I feel the gas/colic gradually move down the colon over time.Again, organic food, gluten-free and dairy-free diet can help immensely with all aspects of IBS, as I'm sure a lot of you have heard. Well, I vouch for it personally, FWIW.Take care.

I know it's not me, but I want all the gurglers to come in here, lol. I always get it after I eat and it's like right at the top, mostly left near the rib, but just below, isn't that where the stomach is supposed to be? Anyway when I expand my stomach lieing down and then press down on it this gurgling waterbottle sound happens. I also burp a lot too after eating and it makes me feel better, but only for like 5 seconds! When I stand up, I feel very swollen and the food has not gone down feeling. Are there any other people like this? I read lots like this on here but I want everyone to come on this board - gurglers unite! Tell me also if you are constipated or have diahhrea predominant or only this! I am chronically constipated - dependant on laxatives.
I have constant gurgling and sometimes it's really loud and it's as though I can feel my intestines move this makes me very anxious I also get alot of flatulence .it's takeing over my life.

I have experienced this noise and feeling.
My IBS actually started the day I had a major gurgling sound and movement. But it was more than just gurgling, it was like a really loud set of noises almost like a washing machine.
I was in a class that day and people turned around to look at me, I just started giggling a bit at first because I thought it was funny, I had never heard a washing machine noise come out of me. The other students (grad school) looked at me quizzically, like they couldn't believe what they were hearing either.

I remember being nervous that day, something important was due and I had not remembered it. It was optional assignment, but everyone else did it, so obviously, not really optional.. And I was calculating in my head if there was a way I could turn it in even at the end of the class, and my stomach started making that noise as I wondered it.

I have had a few other times during my IBS where it made that gurgling sound, but never that strong or loud, just enough that I could hear and maybe sometimes a few people directly beside me..
In my case these sounds and the movement I feel of my stomach/intestines usually did link up with feeling nervous or anxious.

Even though now I don't suffer form severe (and life obstructing) food intolerances or diarrhea and leaky gas attacks, I still sometimes (not very often) feel my stomach or/and intestines move a bit when I'm nervous.

I've also noticed, that I can kind of squeeze my stomach (like beyond just sucking in your stomach).. But I stopped trying to do that as I don't know if it was a precursor to what may have contributed to my IBS starting ( had used that technique to control my hunger and fasting periods about 1-2 years prior to my IBS starting).
